Jake Silva Today: See His New Projects and Career Moves Right Now

Must read

This morning I woke up thinking today would be boring. Just checking emails and maybe fixing a bug. But nah, life loves surprises. Grabbed my coffee – boom – spilled it all over the keyboard. Great start.

The Real Mess Started

Cleaning up the coffee mess, I saw my old job plan docs. Looked like garbage. Really outdated. Felt like a punch. I’ve been doing bits here and there, but nothing solid. Said screw it, time for a clean slate. Didn’t bother planning it out forever, just ripped out some printer paper and started scribbling. Ideas everywhere.

Put down everything floating in my head:

  • Short-term goal: Get a paying remote gig by next month.
  • Current skills: Remembered I learned that new design tool last month.
  • Who might care: Listed those two indie game dev friends and that founder dude.

Looked chaotic, felt real.

Actually Reaching Out

Arm got heavy just thinking about networking. Opened up LinkedIn. Looked at their profiles. One of the indie guys posted about needing UI work yesterday. Serendipity or something. Didn’t draft some perfect message. Typed:

“Yo Mark! Saw your post about UI needs. Still figuring out the new project thing, but that design work you need? Totally my jam. Shot you a rough mockup idea attached. Coffee chat next week?”

Hit send before I overthought it. Felt scary.

The Unexpected Twist

Cleaning out the junk drawer later – found my resignation letter from 3 months ago. Man, that old job sucked the life out of me. Reading it again? Still angry. So I sat down and wrote a new one. Not polished. Ugly feelings on paper:

  • How they promised training, got nada.
  • How they piled on tasks without cash.
  • How I just got… stuck.

Didn’t send it anywhere. Just wrote it. For me. Like a crappy therapy session. Left it lying around. If they fire me tomorrow? It’s ready.

Where I’m At

This whole career path thing? Still blurry. No shiny new job title yet. But today forced me to face the coffee-stained truth: I’m actively scrapping right now, trying stuff, not waiting. Messy scribbles, dumb cold messages, and an angry letter – that’s today’s progress. It ain’t glamorous, but it’s real movement. More than last week.
