Is Seth Curry a good fit for the Golden State Warriors? We analyze his potential role on the current basketball team.

Must read

So, the other day, I got this idea stuck in my head: Seth Curry playing for the Golden State Warriors. You know, alongside his brother Steph. Seemed kinda neat, right? Two Curry brothers raining threes?

I decided to actually spend some time thinking it through, like a little personal project. Didn’t just wanna rely on headlines. First thing I did was pull up some of Seth’s recent game highlights. Just wanted to get a fresh look at his shot, how he moves off the ball. Still smooth, that jumper is pure, no doubt about it.

Digging a Little Deeper

Then I started looking at the numbers. His three-point percentage is obviously elite, always has been. That part fits the Warriors perfectly, you’d think. More spacing, another deadly shooter defenses have to worry about. That’s the Warrior way, right?

But then I started thinking about the other stuff. Here’s kinda what I looked into:

  • Defense: This was the big question mark for me. He’s never been known as a great defender. The Warriors, even when they lean into offense, usually need guys who can at least hold their own. Could they hide him? Maybe. But it felt like a potential weak spot, especially come playoff time.
  • Role: Where would he actually fit in? Is he coming off the bench? Does he play alongside Steph? Having two smaller guards out there can be tough defensively. Would he just be a designated shooter? Seemed kinda limited.
  • The Brother Factor: This one was interesting. On one hand, playing with your brother could be awesome, great chemistry maybe? On the other hand, does it add weird pressure? Like, constantly being compared, or maybe disrupting the existing team dynamic? I went back and forth on this.

Where I Landed

I spent a good afternoon just chewing on this, watching old clips, looking at potential lineups in my head. Honestly, the more I thought about it, the less perfect it seemed. The shooting is tempting, really tempting. But the defensive fit and finding him consistent minutes without compromising the team elsewhere… it started to feel tricky.

It’s not like adding another knockdown shooter is ever a bad thing for the Warriors. But considering what they’d likely have to give up (in terms of roster spot or even salary), and the potential defensive issues, I dunno. My little dive into it kinda cooled me on the idea. It’s fun to imagine, for sure. Two Currys lighting it up? Sounds amazing. But practically speaking, after looking into it myself, I kinda feel like it might create more problems than it solves for Golden State right now. Just my two cents after spending some time on it.
