Okay, so lemme tell you about this thing I was messing around with yesterday: West Texas University Football. Sounds kinda random, right? Well, stick with me.
It all started when I was bored, scrolling through some old sports stats. I stumbled on a page talking about some small college football programs. West Texas University popped up, and I was like, “Huh, never heard of ’em.” Figured I’d dig a little deeper.

I then started digging for articles about their recruiting class. Seeing who they were bringing in. Found a few articles on some local sports blogs. Nothing too crazy, mostly smaller town kids, but a few with some potential. One kid was a quarterback, apparently had a cannon for an arm.

Then, I got a little more ambitious. I tried to find some advanced stats. Like, their offensive and defensive efficiency ratings. That was tougher. Smaller schools don’t always have that data readily available. But I managed to find some on a couple of paywalled sports analytics sites through a friend (don’t tell anyone!).
I even tried to see if there was a subreddit dedicated to their football team, but no luck. They’re not exactly a national powerhouse, you know?
Finally, I just kinda pieced everything together. I had a general idea of their team, their schedule, their past performance, and their recruiting efforts. Nothing too in-depth, just a surface-level understanding.
So, why did I do all this? Just for fun, really. I like college football, and I enjoy learning about different teams and programs. It was a good way to kill a few hours and learn something new. Plus, now if someone brings up West Texas University Football, I can actually say I know something about them. Haha!
