So, last month, I finally got around to checking out the Griffin Country Club. I’d heard about it for a while, and with that invite for an event this week, it was the perfect excuse to go see it.
First off, this place is huge. It’s nestled right in Cheviot Hills, and we’re talking almost four acres of land. I found out it was founded way back in 1926, and you can kind of feel that old-school charm when you’re there. It used to be called the Beverly Hills Country Club, which is a fun little fact.
When I got there, the first thing I did was walk around. They have these three outdoor pools, which looked amazing. I can see myself spending a lot of summer days there. I also checked out their event spaces, they mentioned that they have three banquet rooms, you know, for weddings or parties or whatever. Apparently, they use the banquet rooms when they are not rented out, so I guess it’s a members perk. They also mentioned that there are 342 social and country clubs just in Atlanta, I can’t imagine how many there are in LA!
I didn’t get a chance to try out any of the restaurants this time, but I did see where they were. There’s something called Diddel’s Pub, and also a Main Dining Room. They mentioned that the pub is closed, but the Main Dining Room is open. Oh, and they are pretty strict about what you can wear. I saw some people playing golf, and everyone had on collared shirts.
They’re doing some renovations, which is cool. I heard they’re planning on putting in a 35 of something. I’m not sure what that means but it sounds fancy. I guess the members are excited about it.
I also did a little digging online before I went, and apparently, the Griffin Club is part of this bigger group, Heritage Golf Group. That’s probably why they know so much about golf courses. I found out that this other place, The Woodlands Country Club, has five championship golf courses.
Anyways, I wandered around a bit more, soaking up the atmosphere. It’s definitely a fancy place, but not in a stuffy way, you know? It felt pretty relaxed. I even saw some families hanging out, so it’s not just for, like, old rich dudes. They mentioned that they do a lot of holiday events, although with it being late December, I doubt that I will be attending any.

Overall, I had a pretty good time exploring the Griffin Club. It’s definitely a place I could see myself going back to, maybe to lounge by the pool or hit up one of those holiday parties they have. It is a pretty cool spot.
What I Realized
All in all, this excursion to the Griffin Club was pretty eye-opening. It’s not just a place for a quick visit; it’s like a whole other world once you step inside. You’ve got people from all walks of life, all these activities going on, and a real sense of community that I wasn’t expecting. And I totally get why people become members now – it’s not just about the fancy stuff, it’s about being part of something, you know? Made me realize that there’s a lot more to these places than just golf and fancy dinners.
