Okay, so I’ve been meaning to check out this Skyway Golf Course in Chico. I’d heard some good things, and frankly, my golf game could use some… let’s call it “scenic distraction.” So, I finally made it happen today.

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to get some info. Find out when they are open. I checked out the place and found their operating hours and the fees. It looks manageable, even for a cheapskate like me.
Packed my clubs – they’ve been gathering dust, poor things – and made sure I had enough golf balls. I have a bad habit of donating them to the local wildlife, you know, trees, bushes, water hazards… the usual.
The Drive and Arrival
The drive out there was pretty chill. It’s not too far out of the way, and I was jamming to some tunes. When I got to there, I looked around, and I saw many people there. Nice view.
I checked in at the pro shop. The staff there were super friendly, gave me the rundown on the course layout, and answered my questions. I appreciated that, felt less like a newbie stumbling around.
Hitting the Course
I started on the first tee. Took a few practice swings – gotta loosen up those rusty joints – and then… well, let’s just say my first shot wasn’t exactly pro-level. But hey, that’s why I’m here, right? To improve!

The course itself is in pretty decent shape. The greens are well, green. I had some good putts.
- Hole 3: Thought I lost my ball in the rough, but found it after a minor search party.
- Hole 7: Somehow managed to avoid the water hazard. I count that as a major victory.
- Hole 12: Almost got a birdie! Missed it by that much. Still felt pretty good about it, though.
Wrapping Up
By the time I finished, I was tired, a bit sweaty, but definitely satisfied. I didn’t break any records, but I had a good time, got some exercise, and enjoyed the fresh air. Grabbed a cold drink at the clubhouse, chatted with a few other golfers.
Overall, I’d say Skyway Golf Course is a solid choice. It’s not overly fancy, but it’s well-maintained, the staff is friendly, and the price is right. I’ll probably be back, maybe next weekend. Gotta keep working on that swing!
