Improve Your Game: Shaftesbury Golf Tips and Tricks!

Must read

Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get back into golf, and Shaftesbury Golf Club kept popping up. I figured, “Why not?” and decided to give it a shot. It was a bit of a spur-of-the-moment thing, really.

First, I looked them up online. Just wanted to get a feel for the place, see the course, you know? The website was alright I have to look up some images and information somewhere else. It gave me the basics – address, contact info, a few pictures.

Getting There and Getting Started

So, I drove over there last Saturday. It’s pretty easy to find, actually. I just plugged the address into my phone’s GPS and followed the directions. No problems there. Parking was no hassle, plenty of spaces.

I walked into the pro shop, and it was pretty standard. Clubs, balls, gloves – the usual stuff. The guy behind the counter was friendly enough. I told him I was just looking to play a round, and he set me up with a tee time. It wasn’t too busy, which was nice.

Hitting the Course

I grabbed my clubs (which, admittedly, are a bit old and dusty) and headed out to the first tee. The course itself? It’s… okay. Nothing spectacular, but definitely playable. The fairways were in decent shape, a little dry in spots, but overall, not bad.

I started playing, and honestly, my game was a bit rusty. Sliced a few, duffed a couple, the usual beginner stuff. But hey, that’s part of the fun, right? The course has some challenging holes, a few with water hazards, which I managed to avoid (mostly!).

  • Hole 3: Par 4, dogleg left. Nearly drove it into the trees.
  • Hole 7: Long par 5. Took me a while to get to the green.
  • Hole 12: Short par 3, over water. Actually landed on the green!
  • Hole 16: Another long one that had me working.

I kept going and completed the entire round. It took at least 3.5 hours.

Wrapping Up

After I finished my round, I headed back to the clubhouse. I didn’t stick around for food or anything, just paid my green fees and headed home. It has a bar and seems they offer something to eat, but I am not quite sure.

Overall, it was a decent day out. Shaftesbury Golf Club is a perfectly fine place to play a round. It’s not the fanciest course I’ve ever seen, but it’s affordable, accessible, and a good place to get back into the swing of things (pun intended!). I’ll probably go back again sometime.
