So this morning my kid bursts in yelling “the game starts in an hour!” – meaning High Point versus Cleveland State. BIG trouble cause I promised we’d watch together but had zero clue where to stream it. Cue mad scramble.

The Panic Phase
06:37 am CST: Grabbed my phone cold turkey. First instinct? Check ESPN app since they show college stuff sometimes. Scrolled through live listings – nada. Saw baseball replays and tennis highlights. No basketball.
06:49 am: Jumped over to Hulu Live. Flicked through the guide. Tons of news channels, some golf tournament… still no game. Kid started pacing behind me. Pressure’s on now.
The Deep Dive
06:55 am: Remembered conference matters. Cleveland State’s Horizon League right? Googled “Horizon League broadcast partners” fast. Useful! Their site mentioned ESPN+ AND some local channel called Bally Sports? Never used either.
07:02 am: Pulled up ESPN+ subscription page. Saw the monthly fee. Hesitated. Checked Bally Sports site – needed cable login or separate subscription too. Felt like hitting walls.

My dead ends:
- Checked Netflix – obviously not
- Peeked at YouTube TV free trial – no Horizon League games listed
- Even searched Twitter for “#HPointvClevState stream” – just fan hype tweets

Finally Found It
07:15 am: Gave up and paid for ESPN+. Logged in, searched “High Point Cleveland State”… bam! There it was with a “LIVE” tag. Quality was decent. Kid finally sat down happy. Total cost? $10.99 and 45 minutes of my Saturday morning. And the game? High Point got smoked first half already.
Moral of this mess? College sports streaming is a jungle. You think it’s on ESPN, turns out it’s buried in ESPN+. Or some regional network wanting extra cash. No perfect answer unless you throw money at everything. Grumble grumble.
