How To Use Uppercut In Hunt Showdown Get Kills Faster

Must read

Alright so today I’m gonna spill the beans on actually using the Uppercut pistol in Hunt Showdown properly. Yeah, that big iron everyone talks about but few actually make work consistently. Took me weeks of getting wrecked before it finally clicked.

The Pain Before The Gain

Started like an idiot, honestly. Saw some streamer pop heads with it, grabbed my Romero and an Uppercut thinking I’d be some budget sniper god. Spoiler: I wasn’t. First mistake? Trying to duel actual long ammo rifles at 150+ meters. That bullet drop hits like a brick thrown by a toddler – slow and embarrassing. Missed three shots on a stationary hunter while crouching like a statue myself. Got domed by a Sparks before I could reload. Felt stupid.

Switched it up, tried pairing it with a Winfield. Figured I’d use the Uppercut for close-range panic shots. Bigger mistake. That slow fire rate? You get rushed by a Specter or Crown & King, you’re dead before the hammer even cocks. Panicked, dumped rounds sideways like a cowboy movie extra. Hit nothing but air and barn wood. Died again. Almost rage-sold every Uppercut I owned.

The Breakthrough Loadout

Finally admitted I sucked and watched my own replays. Realized my positioning was trash. Was using it like a primary or a secondary, not understanding what it’s actually good for. The lightbulb moment? Pairing it with shotguns. Specifically, the Romero Hatchet.

Here’s the setup that changed everything:

  • Romero Hatchet (Slugs, obviously)
  • Uppercut (FMJ rounds – extra punch through walls helps)
  • Vit Shot, Choke Bombs, Knife, Flare Pistol (standard stuff)

Perks: Quartermaster (essential for Hatchet), Bulwark (bosses love fire), Greyhound.

How I Actually Play It Now

Stopped trying to force the Uppercut as a main weapon. It’s my range extender. I aggressively push compounds with the Romero Hatchet. It hits hard, fast. If they bolt for cover? That’s Uppercut time. I immediately swap and pressure their position.

FMJ lets me wallbang the obvious spots where I know they’re crouched healing. Peeking windows? Uppercut taps force them back or get bodyshot hits for massive damage (it chunks over half their health!). Suddenly, they’re bleeding pressure. No safe 50-80 meter spot. They either stay pinned or push into my Romero range.

Key Tip: Don’t spam it like a Bornheim. Place shots deliberately. Aim for the chest. Headshots are glorious, sure, but consistent body damage keeps them panicked, burning meds, and terrified to peek you. Reload after every engagement or when SAFE. That slow reload screams “SHOOT ME!”

What Actually Worked

Used this setup pushing Scupper Lake yesterday. Team holed up inside that main boarded building. Romero cleared the close quarters upstairs. One vaulted out the window trying to escape. Quick swap to Uppercut – BOOM. Hit him center mass mid-air before he hit the water. Easy finish with the axe.

Later, at Cyprus Huts. Trapped a hunter behind those log piles by the wagon. Knew exactly where he was crouch-healing thanks to the sound. Lined up the Uppercut, fired through the logs. FMJ punched right through. One shot down. Didn’t even need the shotgun.

It’s not a sniper rifle. It’s your “too far for buckshot, too close for a rifle” Swiss Army knife. Makes your shotgun actually scary beyond 15 meters. Turns every medium-range rock, tree, or fence post into your playground. Stop forcing it to be something it’s not, pair it smart, pressure hard, and that damn cannon will finally start earning its keep.
