So, needed to get from OKC down to Atlanta. Wasn’t really a vacation trip, more like something I just had to do. First thing was figuring out how to even get there.
Sorting Out the Travel
Looked at driving first. It’s a long haul, man. Like, really long. Checked the map, figured it’d be over 12 hours straight driving, probably more like 14 or 15 with stops for gas, food, stretching the legs. Decided against it pretty quick. Just didn’t have the time or honestly, the patience for that kinda road trip this time around.
So, flying it was. Went online, started hunting for tickets. You know how it is, prices all over the place depending on the day, the time, which airline. Spent a good hour or so comparing stuff. Found something that wasn’t too crazy expensive, but the times weren’t great. Had to be an early morning flight out of Will Rogers World Airport.
The Actual Trip Day
That morning sucked. Alarm went off way before the sun. Grabbed my bag – just packed the basics, tried to keep it light. Got a ride to the airport. Place was already buzzing, even that early.
- Checked the bag. That line moved okay.
- Then security. Ugh. Always a hassle. Shoes off, laptop out, the whole dance. Took longer than checking the bag.
- Finally got to the gate. Grabbed some overpriced coffee and waited.
Boarding started more or less on time. Found my seat. You know airplane seats, not exactly roomy. Just settled in for the flight. It wasn’t direct, had a layover somewhere, I think it was Dallas? Yeah, DFW. Had to hustle a bit there to get to the next gate.
Second leg of the flight was pretty much the same. Bit bumpy here and there, but nothing major. Just stared out the window or tried to rest my eyes a bit. They give you those tiny snacks, hardly worth unwrapping.
Getting into Atlanta
Landed at Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta. That place is massive. Took forever just to taxi to the gate. Then the walk from the gate to baggage claim felt like another mile. Seriously, that airport is its own city.
Waited for my bag. Always feels like yours is the last one off. Finally spotted it, grabbed it, and headed out to find my ride. Traffic outside the airport was nuts, but eventually got picked up.
So yeah, made it from OKC to Atlanta. Took most of the day when you count getting to the airport, the layover, all that. Flying beat driving time-wise, but it’s still a whole process. Glad it’s done, anyway.
