How Do You Become a Jr Smith? Follow These Steps to Get Started

Must read

Okay, so everyone’s been asking, “How do you become a JR Smith?” Well, let me tell you, it ain’t easy, but I tried, and here’s my story.

How Do You Become a Jr Smith? Follow These Steps to Get Started

First off, I started by looking up what it even takes to be considered a “journeyman.” I mean, the word sounds fancy, right? Turns out, it’s all about experience and proving you know your stuff. I found some info online, but it was all jumbled up. Some folks were talking about training junior developers, which is cool, but not what I was after. Then, I stumbled upon something about an “Apprentice Smith” and a “Master Smith.” That sounded more like it!

So, I dug deeper. Apparently, you gotta be an “Apprentice Smith” first. I figured, “Okay, I can do that.” Then it said you gotta work under a “Master Smith” for two years. Two whole years! That’s a long time, but I was determined. I started asking around, trying to find a Master Smith who’d be willing to take me on. Let me tell you, that was a challenge in itself.

  • I made calls.
  • I sent emails.
  • I even showed up at some workshops, hoping to meet someone.

Most of the time, I got ignored. A few times, I got some polite “no’s.” But I kept at it. Finally, after months of searching, I found this old guy, a real craftsman, who agreed to take me under his wing. He was tough, I’ll give him that. He made me do all the grunt work at first.

The Grind

We’re talking about sweeping the floor, cleaning tools, fetching stuff. But I didn’t complain. I watched him like a hawk, tried to learn everything he did. Slowly, he started letting me do more. I got to help him with some simple projects. I messed up a lot, no doubt, but I kept learning from my mistakes.

After about a year, I started feeling like I was getting the hang of it. But I still had another year to go before I could even think about taking that performance test. But after two years of working my butt off, I finally got the chance to take the test. I passed, thankfully, I did pass, now I consider myself a full-fledged “Journeyman Smith.”

So, yeah, that’s how I became a JR Smith, or at least my version of it. It’s not about being a junior developer, but becoming a real “Journeyman Smith.” It took time, effort, and a whole lot of persistence. But hey, if I can do it, maybe you can too. Just be prepared to work hard and never give up!
