Hold My Own Tattoo: Step-by-Step Guide to Tattoo Yourself Safely

Must read

Okay, so, I tried to give myself a tattoo. Yeah, a real tattoo. I know, I know, it sounds crazy, but I’ve always wanted one, and I figured, why not try it myself? Plus, I’m a bit of a DIY enthusiast.

Hold My Own Tattoo: Step-by-Step Guide to Tattoo Yourself Safely

First things first, I needed to figure out what I wanted. I spent hours scrolling through online ideas, saving tons of pics on my phone. Finally, I sketched out a little something I liked. Nothing fancy, just a small symbol on my hand.

Then came the scary part – actually doing it. I gathered all the stuff I thought I needed: a pen, some ink, and, uh, that’s pretty much it. I’d read online that you gotta keep your hand in a fist to stretch the skin, makes it easier to draw on or something. So, I balled my hand up in a fist.

  • Step 1: I cleaned the area on my hand where I wanted the tattoo. Like, really well. I didn’t want any nasty germs getting in there.
  • Step 2: I tried to draw the design on my hand with the pen. It was way harder than I thought. The ink kept smudging, and my lines were all wobbly.
  • Step 3: I took a deep breath and started poking myself with the pen. I tried to follow the lines I’d drawn, but it was tough. It hurt more than I expected, and I was bleeding a little.
  • Step 4: After a while, I started to get the hang of it. Kind of. The lines were still messy, and the ink was spreading out, but I kept going.
  • Step 5: Finally, I finished. Or at least, I stopped. It didn’t look exactly like my sketch, but it was there. A permanent-ish mark on my hand.

The Aftermath

Honestly, it was a bit of a disaster. The tattoo looked pretty rough, and my hand was sore for days. I realized pretty quickly that I should have just gone to a professional. I mean, there’s a reason they train for this stuff.

But hey, I did it. I gave myself a tattoo. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. And it’s a good reminder that some things are better left to the experts. Still, it was a fun little adventure, and I learned a lot. Would I do it again? Probably not. But it’s a story I’ll be telling for years to come. Now you know what? You should never try to do this by yourself at home without a specialist. Because it will bring a disaster, infections, scarring or even blood poisoning.
