Okay, so I’ve been meaning to keep better track of my sports stuff, and I finally got around to diving into the Gotham FC roster for 2023. I gotta say, it was a bit of a process, but I think I’ve got a pretty good handle on it now.

First off, I started by just trying to find a complete list. You know, something simple that’d give me all the players’ names in one place. Turns out, that’s not as easy as it sounds. The official NWSL site had some info, but it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for. FOXSports had some stuff, too, but it wasn’t complete.
I dug around a bunch of different places, like some news articles and press releases. I found a piece about Gotham FC signing a super young player, McKenna “Mak” Whitham. She’s only 13. I don’t know how much she played, but still, that’s wild!
Then I stumbled upon a list of players including Nicole Baxter, Sabrina Flores, Cheyna Matthews, Libby Moore, Mana Shim, and Sakura Yoshida. I recognized a few names, but it seemed to be only a partial roster from some specific point in time.
After that, I tried to see if I could find any info on who the top players are. I saw that Rose Lavelle and Ann-Katrin Berger were mentioned as being the highest-rated players. I guess those are names to watch out for. I also saw the news of season open on November 20 in Los Angeles against Angel City FC.
So, I ended up having to piece together info from all these different sources. It wasn’t the most organized way to do it, but I think I’ve got a pretty good grasp of the roster now. I even wrote it all down so I can remember who’s who.

- Nicole Baxter
- Sabrina Flores
- Cheyna Matthews
- Libby Moore
- Mana Shim
- Mak Whitham
- Sakura Yoshida
It took a bit of work, but hey, I learned a lot about Gotham FC in the process. Next time, hopefully, it’ll be a bit easier to find the info I need!
