Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “jordan black jesus” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a ride. I wanted to create this specific graphic, maybe for a t-shirt or something, so I started by digging around for references.
First, I googled a bunch of images of Michael Jordan. I needed to get a good feel for his face, his posture, you know, the iconic MJ stuff. I saved a few that I thought captured his essence, especially ones with that intense, focused look.
Then, I did the same for images of Jesus. Now, this part was trickier because there are so many different depictions. I went for the classic, more traditional representations – long hair, beard, that kind of thing. I grabbed a few that I felt had the right vibe, a mix of serene and powerful.
The Mashup Begins
With my references in hand, I opened up my trusty image editing software. I’m no pro, but I know my way around the basics. I started by cutting out Jordan’s head from one of the photos. It took a while to get the edges right, especially around his hair. Lots of zooming in and using the eraser tool.
Next, I did the same with one of the Jesus images, focusing on the head and shoulders. I wanted to keep that flowing hair and beard. Again, more careful cutting and erasing.
Now came the fun part – merging the two. I placed Jordan’s head onto Jesus’ body, and… it looked weird. Really weird. The proportions were off, the skin tones didn’t match, it was a mess.
Adjustments and Tweaks
So, I spent a good chunk of time resizing and rotating Jordan’s head until it looked somewhat natural. I played around with the color balance and brightness to try and blend the skin tones. It wasn’t perfect, but it was getting there.

I also added a subtle black outline around Jordan’s head, just to give it a bit of definition and make it stand out. I’m not sure if “black jesus” is a style, maybe more of a statement, so I just followed my intuition.
Finally, I added a dark background, just a simple black color, to make the image pop. I tried a few different shades, but plain black seemed to work best.
It’s still not perfect, and I might tweak it some more later, but for now, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s definitely… unique. It’s kind of rough, not super polished, but I think that adds to the charm, maybe. It’s that home done feel.
