Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this idea of making a simple race track in, like, a game or something. I didn’t really know where to start, so I just kinda jumped in.

First, I doodled some track layouts on paper. Just real basic stuff, you know, ovals, figure eights, some with sharper turns. Nothing fancy, just getting a feel for what felt fun.
Then, I thought, “Okay, how do I actually make this thing?” I decided to use some basic shapes. I grabbed some rectangles and started playing around with them. I stretched them out, rotated them, and stuck them together to form the basic outline of a track.
Getting the Curves Right
- This is where it got a little tricky. Straight lines are easy, but curves? Not so much.
- I messed around, I mean Really messed around and.
- It works!
So, I had my basic track layout. But it was, well, basic. It needed some, flair.
I added some extra rectangles along the edges to act as borders. Made them a different color so they’d stand out. It’s starting to look like an actual race track now!

Finally, I placed a “car” (just a small square for now) on the track and wrote a tiny bit of code to make it move. Watching that little square zip around the track I built, even though it was super simple, was surprisingly satisfying.
It’s definitely not perfect, and it’s super rough around the edges, but it’s a start! I can see how you could build on this and make something really cool. Maybe add some obstacles, different terrains, who knows! It’s all about experimenting and seeing what works.
