Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this whole Shanahan and Purdy thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I started off just poking around, trying to figure out what the deal was with this “Mr. Irrelevant” tag.
Turns out, it’s what they call the very last pick in the NFL draft. Sounds kinda rough, right? But this Purdy guy, he got picked last in 2022.
So, I dug a little deeper. It seems like the 49ers, that’s the team, had some bad luck. Their main quarterbacks got hurt. And that’s where Purdy stepped in. I watched some clips, read some articles, the whole nine yards. This kid, who everyone thought was going to be irrelevant, he starts playing.
And guess what? He’s actually good. Shanahan, that’s the coach, he’s got this way of calling plays. And the 49ers, they’ve got some good players around Purdy. Together, it’s like magic. So, the last guy picked, he doesn’t get paid as much as the first guy. Purdy’s contract is only a bit more than $4 million, which is not a lot in the NFL.
But here’s the kicker. This Purdy, he went from being the last pick to, like, a big deal. People are talking about him, there are rumors about the Super Bowl, and it’s all because he got a chance and he took it.
