This Anthony Volpe, I keep hearin’ about him. Sounds like he’s a big shot in the baseball world, huh? My grandson, he’s always talkin’ about this Anthony Volpe game log. Says I gotta see it. I don’t know nothin’ about baseball, but the boy’s excited, so I’m tryin’ to figure it out.
They say he plays for the New York Yankees. That’s a team, right? A big one, I reckon. All them games he plays, must be tiring. I remember my old man used to work in the fields all day, that was tiring. This Volpe kid, he’s probably tired too, running around all the time.

So, I looked at this game log thing. It’s a whole bunch of numbers. Like a whole lot. They got the dates, the teams they play, all that stuff. He played 159 games, that is a lot.
- Date: Lots of dates, all year long.
- Opponent: That’s the other team, I think.
- Result: Did they win or lose? That’s important.
- AB: No idea what that is.
- H: Hits? Maybe he hit the ball that many times?
- HR: Home runs? That’s when they run all the way around, right?
I see a lot of them games where he didn’t get any of them home runs. But some he did. He must be a good runner, that’s for sure. My old knees ain’t what they used to be. Couldn’t run like that anymore.
This Anthony Volpe, he must be good. They wouldn’t keep him on the team if he wasn’t, right? My grandson says he’s young, too. Got his whole life ahead of him, playin’ that baseball.

Then there’s this other game log for 2024. He played even more games in 2024, I saw 160 games on that list. This boy, he never stops! Must be tough on his mama, him being away all the time.
This one’s got more numbers. More things I don’t understand. RBI, SB, CS, what that mean? I seen a few games he got a lot of these RBI things. Must be good.
- RBI: No clue. But it seems important.
- SB: Stolen bases? Is that like stealin’ in a store?
- BB: Walks? Like, just walkin’ around?
Anthony Volpe’s parents, they are some kinda doctors. His daddy’s a urologist, his mama is an anesthesiologist. They make a lot of money, huh? And his daddy is Italian, mama is Filipino. That’s a long way from here.
He played for the New York Yankees. That’s in New York, right? Big city. Lots of people. I went there once, a long time ago. Too many people for me.

I still don’t understand all them numbers. But I guess if he’s hitting that ball and running around, that’s good. And if the Yankees are winning, that’s good too.
