Okay, so I wanted to make a “finish race flag” thing, you know, the checkered one. I figured it would be a fun little project.

Getting Started
First, I grabbed some black and white fabric. I didn’t really measure anything precisely, just eyeballed it. I mean, it’s a flag, it doesn’t need to be perfect, right?
Cutting and Sewing
I started cutting the fabric into squares. Some were black, some were white. I didn’t use a ruler or anything, just went for it with the scissors. It was a bit messy, some squares were bigger than others, but whatever.
Then came the sewing part. I’m no expert with a sewing machine, but I managed to stitch the squares together. It was a bit of a struggle, the fabric kept bunching up, and the thread got tangled a few times.
- Cut fabric.
- Sew squares together.
- Almost gave up several times.
The Final Result (Sort Of)
Eventually, I had something that resembled a checkered flag. It wasn’t pretty, the lines weren’t straight, and some squares were definitely wonky. But, hey, it was done! It looked handmade, which is kind of charming, I guess.
I attached it to a stick I found in the backyard. Now It is waving in the wind. Mission accomplished, I finish my race flag and record the whole process!
