Today I’m gonna talk about my experience with the 2022 Marlins.

So, last year, I got super into baseball. Don’t ask me why, I just did. I picked the Miami Marlins as my team. Probably because I like the name and their colors, haha.
First thing I did was, I looked up their schedule. Turns out they played a whopping 162 games in the regular season! Can you believe that? I mean, that’s a lot of baseball. I found out they won 69 games and lost 93. Not the best record, but hey, they’re my team.
I started following them, like, religiously. I would check out all sorts of websites to see how they were doing, trying to figure out what their stats were like. Batting stats, pitching stats – you name it, I was looking it up. I even found places where you can see stuff like exit velocity, pitch velocity, and all these crazy details about each player. There were illustrations of the strike zones and this box score thing that was kind of interactive. They even had these pitch 3D views from different camera angles. I was hooked!
Digging into details
I learned that the Marlins used to be called the “Florida Marlins” until 2011. Then they switched to “Miami Marlins” in 2012 when they moved to their new stadium, which has a retractable roof. I heard it holds like 37,000 people! That place is huge.
I also got into the whole business side of things, which I never thought I’d do. I found out the team was worth about a billion dollars in 2024! And this guy named Bruce Sherman owns the team.

Oh, and if you ever go to a game, they’re pretty strict about bags. You can only bring in clear bags that are not bigger than 16x16x8 inches, and they have to be see-through. The only exceptions were for tiny clutches and bags for like, medical stuff or babies.
Throughout the season, I was totally absorbed in their performance. I’d get so bummed out when they lost and super excited when they won. One time, I remember they had this really rough start, and I was thinking, “Come on guys, you gotta turn this around!” It was like a rollercoaster of emotions, man.
I’m not gonna lie, I got pretty invested. Baseball season became this whole thing for me. I’d clear my schedule to watch their games and read every article I could find about them. It was kind of a wild ride, but a fun one.
So yeah, that’s my story about getting into the 2022 Miami Marlins. It was a year full of ups and downs, wins and losses, and a whole lot of baseball. Definitely an experience I won’t forget!
