My Trip to Estadio Benito Juarez
Last Saturday I decided to check out a football match at Estadio Benito Juarez. Honestly, I was kinda lost about how to get there at first. Grabbed my phone and searched maps while eating breakfast, but those official directions were confusing as heck.

Figured I’d drive since parking always stresses me out less than crowded buses. Jumped in my car around 3 PM for a 5 PM kickoff. Traffic sucked near downtown – should’ve left earlier. Took the main avenue heading west, saw two exits for the stadium but missed both because signs were tiny.
The Parking Struggle
Finally spotted the stadium around 4:30 PM and my stomach dropped. Cars were parked crazily:
- Alongside sidewalks with wheels on the curb
- In ditches behind the stadium
- Double-parked along service roads
Drove circles for 15 minutes feeling like an idiot. Some guy in a neon vest waved at me – turned out to be unofficial parking behind a taco stand. Charged 100 pesos cash only, about what street parking would cost. Took it immediately.
Getting Out After Match
After the game, getting back to my car was easy peasy. But leaving? Total madness:
- Everyone trying to squeeze onto one road
- Pedestrians weaving between cars
- Zero traffic cops directing flow
Took me 40 minutes just to drive three blocks. Should’ve stayed to finish my soda at the stadium instead of rushing out.
Final tips I learned the hard way:
Go early – like 2 hours before if driving.
Bring cash – parking guys don’t take cards.
Pack patience – leaving will test your soul.
Still worth it though – that stadium atmosphere was electric!
