Getting Started

First, I ordered a Flexbar. I opted for the green one, which is supposed to be medium resistance. I wasn’t sure, but it seemed like a good starting point. It arrived a few days later, and I was eager to try it out.

The Exercises

I looked up some exercises online, and found a few basic ones that seemed easy enough. Mostly, it involves twisting and bending the bar in different ways. I started with the “Tyler Twist,” which is apparently the classic one for tennis elbow.

  • I held the Flexbar vertically in front of me, with my injured arm’s wrist fully flexed (bent back).
  • Then, I grabbed the top of the bar with my other hand.
  • I twisted the bar with my good hand, while keeping my injured wrist flexed.
  • I then extended my injured arm down, so the bar was horizontal.
  • Finally slowly untwisted.
  • I repeated this like 15 times, trying to keep the motion smooth.

I also tried some other exercises, like bending the bar in a U-shape and doing some wrist extensions with it. All in all the exercises I did were:

  • Tyler Twist.
  • Reverse Tyler Twist.
  • Wrist extensions.
  • Ulnar deviation.

My Routine

I decided to do these exercises every day. I aimed for three sets of 15 repetitions for each exercise. I found it easiest to do them while watching TV or listening to a podcast. It didn’t take much time, maybe 15-20 minutes total.

The Results (So Far)

I’ve been doing these exercises for a few weeks now. It’s no magic solution. But my pain is not gone. It’s definitely lessened. I noticed that my grip strength feels a bit better, too. I’m still careful not to overdo things, but I can feel an improvement. I can pick things up more easily. I am going to keep at it and see how it goes. It’s encouraging to find something that seems to be making a difference.

It’s not a miracle cure, but it’s progress! I plan to keep using the Flexbar and hopefully, I’ll continue to see improvement.
