Okay, so lemme tell you about my trip from Newark Airport (EWR) to Yankee Stadium. It was a whole thing, but I figured it out, and now you can too. No stress!

First off, landed at EWR. Baggage claim, the whole nine yards. Once I had my bag, I started thinking about getting to the Bronx. My initial thought was taxi, but then I remembered how expensive those can be! Especially with that lovely Newark-to-NYC tax.
Public Transportation is Key!
So, I decided to brave the public transit. Here’s what I did:
- Step 1: AirTrain to NJ Transit I hopped on the AirTrain from the terminal. It’s clearly marked, can’t miss it. Took that to the Newark Airport train station. Cost me like $8, paid at a kiosk there.
- Step 2: NJ Transit to Penn Station Got on a NJ Transit train headed to New York Penn Station. This part was probably the longest, maybe 30-40 minutes? Just chilled and people-watched. Paid for the ticket using the NJ Transit app on my phone – super easy. Think it was around $15 or so.
- Step 3: Subway to Yankee Stadium Okay, here’s where it got a little tricky, but nothing too crazy. At Penn Station, I found the subway. You gotta get on the 4 train (the one that goes uptown) or the B or D trains. I used a MetroCard. Swiped it, went through. I made sure to confirm it was heading to 161st Street/Yankee Stadium.
The subway ride itself wasn’t bad. Crowded, like always, but it got me there. Saw some interesting characters along the way, which is always entertaining.
Arrival at Yankee Stadium

Got off at the 161st Street/Yankee Stadium stop. You literally walk out and you’re RIGHT THERE. Couldn’t miss it if I tried. The energy was already building, people were excited for the game, vendors were selling their stuff. It was awesome.
Few tips I picked up:
- Download those apps! The NJ Transit and subway apps are lifesavers. Makes buying tickets so much easier.
- Give yourself plenty of time. Public transport can be unpredictable. Better to be early than miss the first pitch.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help. New Yorkers are usually pretty willing to point you in the right direction.
- Keep an eye on your stuff. Common sense, but always a good reminder on public transport.
All in all, it was a successful trek from EWR to Yankee Stadium. Saved a bunch of money compared to a taxi, and got a little taste of the real New York. Would totally do it again.
