Okay, so I wanted to do a beach photo shoot, and let me tell you, it was a whole process! First, I brainstormed some ideas. I knew I wanted that golden hour glow, you know, that warm, dreamy light you get right before sunset.

Preparation is Key
- Picked the beach: I scouted a few locations beforehand. I needed a spot that wasn’t too crowded and had some interesting features, like maybe some rocks or dunes.
- Checked the tide: This is super important! I didn’t want to get caught out by the rising tide, or have the perfect spot disappear underwater. I used a tide chart app to figure out the best time.
- Gathered my gear: My camera, obviously, a couple of lenses (a wide-angle and a portrait lens), a reflector to bounce some light, and a tripod for those steady shots. I also packed a towel, some water, and snacks. Gotta stay hydrated and fueled!
- Planned the outfits: I chose clothes that were flowy and comfortable, and that complemented the beach colors. Think light blues, whites, and maybe a pop of coral.
The Shoot Itself
I arrived at the beach about an hour before golden hour. This gave me time to set up, test the light, and get comfortable with the surroundings. When the light started to get that magical golden hue, I started shooting.
I played around with different poses – walking along the shoreline, sitting in the sand, looking out at the ocean. I also experimented with different angles, getting down low for some dramatic shots and climbing up on some rocks for a wider perspective. I used the reflector to bounce light onto my subject’s face, filling in any shadows and creating a beautiful, soft glow.
The End
As the sun began to set, I captured some silhouette shots, with the subject standing against the fiery sky. Those are always some of my favorites! After the sun disappeared, I packed up my gear, feeling tired but super happy with how the shoot went.
Then,it’s time to look at those photos.I am so suprised by so many photos which are perfect.I also picked some photos to adjust a little and make them more beautiful.
It was a lot of work, but totally worth it! Beach photo shoots can be amazing if you plan ahead and embrace the elements. I hope to do a shoot again!
