Devin Bookers Golf Game: More Than Just Hoops Skills?

Must read

Digging into Devin Booker’s Golf Game

Alright, so the other day, I got this bug in my ear about Devin Booker playing golf. You know, the Suns basketball player. I follow hoops pretty closely, but I kept hearing whispers about him on the links. Got me thinking, you know? Is he any good? What’s his deal with golf?

So, I decided to make it a little project. Like a practice session, but instead of hitting balls, I was hitting the keyboard, digging for info. It’s how I like to do things, just dive in and see what I find.

First thing I did, just opened up my browser. Didn’t have a specific plan, just typed in stuff like “Devin Booker golf swing,” “Booker playing golf,” that kind of thing. Pretty basic start.

Found a bunch of stuff right away. Videos popped up, mostly short clips from social media or charity events. I started watching those. Wanted to get a feel for his swing, his vibe on the course.

What I noticed watching him:

  • He looks pretty smooth out there. Not stiff like some athletes trying a new sport.
  • Got some real power, which isn’t surprising given he’s a top-tier athlete.
  • Seems genuinely into it. You can tell when someone’s just doing it for show versus actually enjoying the game. He looked like he enjoyed it.

Then I shifted gears. Moved from just watching clips to reading a bit more. Looked for articles, interviews where he might have talked about golf. Had to sift through a lot of basketball news, obviously, but eventually found some pieces mentioning his handicap, how often he plays.

Learned he’s actually pretty decent. Not scratch, from what I gathered, but definitely holds his own. Seems like it’s a real passion for him, something he uses to unwind from the pressures of the NBA season. Makes sense. Lots of guys need that kind of escape.

Putting it Together

So after maybe an hour or so of this, clicking around, watching, reading, I felt like I had a better picture. It wasn’t like some deep, analytical breakdown, more like building a general impression based on what’s out there.

My main takeaway? He’s a legit golfer, not just a famous guy holding a club. Respectable game, seems to love playing. It was interesting comparing him mentally to other multi-sport athletes, like Curry or Romo, who are also known for their golf.

That was basically my practice session on the topic. Started with curiosity, did some digging, watched some footage, read some background, and came away with a solid understanding. Simple process, but effective for just getting the lay of the land on something new.
