Okay, here’s my blog post about “dbd any means necessary”, written from my personal experience, in a casual, straightforward style:

So, I wanted to get this perk, “Any Means Necessary,” in Dead by Daylight. I’d seen some folks using it to really mess with the killer, and I figured, hey, I wanna do that too. I’m not the best looper, so any edge I can get, right?
First thing I did was, obviously, start playing. I mainly play survivor, so I just kept queueing up, hoping to get lucky with the Shrine of Secrets. I knew I could grind it out and eventually get it with Iridescent Shards, but who wants to wait that long? I wanted to pallet-slam some killers now.
I played, and played, and played. Match after match. I was getting tunneled, camped, all the usual DBD fun. Still no perk. I was starting to think the Shrine hated me, or maybe the Entity was just messing with my RNG.
Then, I had a thought: challenges! I hadn’t really been paying attention to the Tome challenges, just kinda picking ones that looked easy. But I figured, hey, maybe if I focused on those, I’d get some extra Bloodpoints, level up the Rift, and maybe, just maybe, get some Iridescent Shards faster.
- I started picking survivor challenges.
- Stuff like “escape a trial,” “unhook survivors,” the usual.
- I even started playing survivors I wasn’t super comfortable with, just to get those challenges done.
It was a grind. Some games were brutal. Some were surprisingly easy. I even had a few where I was pretty sure the killer was farming, which, hey, I’m not complaining. Free Bloodpoints!

And, I had to keep my eyes peeled for when “Any Means Necessary” would roll through in the Shrine, I made a mental note every Wednesday to check the Shrine.
After what felt like forever (probably a week or two, playing pretty regularly), there it was in the Shrine, “Any Means Necessary”. Finally!
I grabbed that perk so fast. I didn’t even hesitate. I’d earned those Shards, and I was ready to use them.
Putting it to Use
First few games? Rough. I kept forgetting I even had the perk. I’d go to a dropped pallet, and just…stand there. Like a dummy. Old habits die hard, I guess.

But then, it started to click. I’d be in a chase, see a pallet, and remember, “Oh yeah! I can pick that up!” The timing took a little getting used to, but once I got the hang of it, it was amazing.
I’m still not pulling off any crazy plays, I have reset a pallet to help a survivor get away, or reset a pallet only to fast vault and trick a killer. But it’s definitely added a new layer to my gameplay. It’s fun, it’s strategic, and it feels really good to outsmart the killer, even if it’s just for a few seconds.
So, that’s my story. It wasn’t anything super fancy, just a lot of playing, a little bit of challenge-grinding, and a whole lot of patience. But hey, I got the perk, and I’m having a blast with it. If you’re thinking about getting “Any Means Necessary,” I’d say go for it. It’s worth the effort.
Just be prepared for a little bit of a learning curve. And maybe a lot of dying. It’s Dead by Daylight, after all.
