Alright so today I wanted to try something different in Pelican Town: cranberries. Heard they were a solid Fall crop, so I grabbed some seeds from Pierre’s shop. Didn’t even haggle, just handed over the gold and got started.

The Plantin’ Process
Found a patch of dirt I’d cleared out near my scarecrow. Figured that spot deserved some action. Started diggin’ small holes – one after another, spacing them out like the seed packet said. My back started complainin’ a little halfway through, but pushed on. Plopped a single seed into each hole, covered it back up nice and patted the dirt flat. Felt good, like plantin’ tiny promises.
The Waitin’ Game
This part always tries my patience. Watered them diligently every single morning before I did anything else, even before my first cup of joe. Watched ’em sprout little green shoots after a few days – super satisfying moment, right there. Then they just kept growin’ taller and bushier. Took what felt like forever – about 7 full days – before I saw the first tiny white flowers pop. Those flowers got me excited, knew the berries wouldn’t be far behind.
Harvest Time!
And bam! A few days later, the bushes were loaded. Bright, shiny red cranberries everywhere I looked. Started pickin’ like mad, just goin’ from bush to bush. Best thing about these cranberries? They didn’t stop after one pick! Every other day, like clockwork, I’d head back and find more berries ready. Felt like free money just sittin’ on the bushes! Dirt everywhere, back achin’ again, but totally worth it.
Countin’ the Coins
Man, those berries added up fast in the shipping bin. Didn’t even bother sellin’ ’em to Pierre most of the time, just chucked ’em in. Here’s why cranberries rock for fall:
- They keep givin’: Pick ’em once, they regrow berries multiple times.
- Profit is sweet: Way more gold over the whole season than basic crops like parsnips.
- Preserve Jar potential: Chuck ’em in jars later, even more cash.
But gotta be honest, the starter cost for the seeds is steep, and waterin’ so many plants daily… yeah, got tiring. And then later, processin’ all that jam? Whew. Still, for pure profit, cranberries are my top pick for Fall now. Totally changed my farm income.

Final Thoughts
This cranberry run really clicked for me. It taught me the value of those regrowin’ crops. More work upfront with plantin’ and waterin’, sure, but the payoff keeps rollin’ in. Way better than constantly replantin’ stuff like potatoes. Definitely makin’ cranberries a permanent fixture in my Fall season plan. My farm feels more alive, more productive now. Farmer life feels good! You guys gotta try it.
