Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another little project I’ve been messing around with. Today, I wanted to share my experience trying to recreate the Cody Rhodes logo, you know, the one from WWE. I’ve always thought it was a cool design, and since I’ve been diving more into graphic design lately, I figured, why not give it a shot?
So, I started by searching for some inspiration. I hopped onto Pinterest, browsed around a bit, and checked out some designs. There are so many talented folks out there, and it’s easy to get lost in all the amazing artwork. I found a few designs that I liked. I felt they were a bit too clean for my taste. I kind of wanted something with a bit more edge, you know? Something that felt more in line with the “American Nightmare” persona.
Then I remembered some of the old-school WWE logos, the ones from the Attitude Era. They had this raw, gritty feel to them that I really dig. I decided to try and incorporate that vibe into my design. I fired up my design software and started sketching. It took a few tries, but I eventually landed on a concept I was happy with. It’s got that classic Cody Rhodes feel, but with a bit of that old-school WWE edginess to it.
Here’s how my process went down:
- Gathering Inspiration: Spent some time browsing Pinterest and other design sites to see what other people have done with the Cody Rhodes logo.
- Sketching: Played around with different ideas on paper, trying to capture the essence of the logo while adding my own twist.
- Digitizing: Moved my favorite sketch into my design software and started refining it.
- Adding Details: This is where I added those gritty, edgy elements inspired by the old-school WWE logos.
- Finalizing: Tweaked the design until I was happy with the overall look and feel.
I’m pretty stoked with how it turned out. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction. I even tried to make a 3D printable model of it. That’s a whole other beast, though! I’m still learning the ropes when it comes to 3D design, so that part is still a work in progress.
I also found some cool fan art of other WWE Superstars while I was researching. There’s this one artist, Simon-Williams-Art, who does some incredible work. I saw his drawing of The Undertaker, and it’s seriously impressive. It makes me want to try my hand at drawing some other wrestlers. Maybe I’ll give that a go next.
