Okay, so I decided to drive from Cleveland to Denver. I’d never done a road trip that long before, so, honestly, I was a little nervous, but mostly excited!
Getting Ready
First things first, I had to make sure my car was up for the trip. I took it to my local mechanic for a check-up. Got the oil changed, tires rotated, and all the fluids topped off. He gave it a thumbs up, said it was good to go.
Next, I started thinking about the route. I played around with a couple of map apps. Finally, I found it.
The Drive
Day 1: I left Cleveland bright and early. The first leg was pretty uneventful, mostly highway driving through Ohio and Indiana. I made it to Indianapolis and decided to call it a night there. Found a cheap motel, nothing fancy, just a place to crash.
Day 2: Woke up, grabbed some fast food breakfast, and hit the road again. Today was all about getting through Illinois and Missouri. I stopped in St. Louis for a quick photo, and a gas station dinner. Kept pushing on and ended up somewhere in Kansas for the night.
Day 3: This was the big push to Denver. Kansas seemed to stretch on forever! But finally, I started seeing the landscape change. It got flatter, then, slowly, the mountains started appearing in the distance. That was an amazing feeling.
Arriving in Denver
I rolled into Denver in the late afternoon. The city looked awesome, with the mountains right there as a backdrop. I found my hotel, checked in, and just collapsed on the bed. I was exhausted, but so happy I’d made it.
I did it! Cleveland to Denver. It has been a long journey.
