Okay, let’s talk about this 85 Honda I worked on. It was a real classic, and getting it up and running again was a bit of a journey. I’m not a professional mechanic, just a guy who likes to tinker, so bear with me.

First off, I needed to find some parts. I hit up a few online stores, but I found a site called V-Belt Guys that had a GOODRICH Classic Banded Replacement V-Belt 2B85, it’s great. They had a bunch of stuff, and the prices were pretty decent.

Then, I started thinking about how I was going to get this thing to my garage. I mean, it wasn’t exactly in driving condition. So, I planned my route, trying to avoid heavy traffic. I figured the best time to move it would be early in the morning when the roads are relatively quiet. I used a simple map to figure out the best way.

Now, I know this was an older model, and I thought about the registration process. I did some digging and found out that the HOC could help with registering older Hondas. I saw that they had a Classic Dating Officer named Andy, and I jotted down his email. I didn’t need it yet, but I figured it would be good to have just in case.

When I got the car to my garage, I started assessing the situation. It was a real fixer-upper. I’m not going to lie, there were a lot of things that needed attention. But that’s part of the fun, right? I went online and checked out Gumtree. There were a bunch of Classic Hondas for sale there, and it gave me an idea of what parts might be available locally and what they were going for. Finally, after weeks of work, I got it running. It wasn’t perfect, but it was running. The engine was still a bit rough, but it was a lot better than when I started. It was a great feeling to turn the key and hear it roar to life. I took it for a short drive around the block, and it felt amazing.
