My Rockies Uniform Had Seen Better Days
So last weekend after our neighborhood game, my Rockies jersey looked like it went through a dirt tornado. Grass stains all over the knees, mud splatters near the hem, and sweat marks that could stand on their own. Needed a fix fast before next week’s game.

The Quick Clean Routine
First I grabbed my plastic basin from under the sink. Filled it with cold water – always cold for baseball jerseys! Dumped in a capful of my regular laundry soap. Swirled it around till it got bubbly.
Plunged that smelly jersey right in. Let it soak for maybe 20 minutes while I ate a sandwich. Saw the dirt lifting right off in the water. Good start.
For the gnarly stains:
- Rubbed baking soda paste on the grass stains
- Used old toothbrush on collar sweat rings
- Just fingernail scrubbing for mud specks
The Magic Move
Rinsed it under the cold tap water only. Didn’t even think about twisting the fabric – that’s how lettering peels. Just pressed the water out gently like squeezing a sponge. Threw it over the shower rod to drip dry overnight.
Woke up to a crisp, clean uniform! No faded colors, no cracked logos, smells fresh. Whole process took less time than watching a baseball inning.

Been doing this after every game for three seasons now. Jersey still looks like it just came off the rack. Easy peasy!
