Yesterday, I was going through some game recordings from last week, just casually watching them, you know? And then I saw something that caught my attention.

There was this play where player A2 straight up blocked B2 in the back. It happened right around A’s 40-yard line. Now, I ain’t no referee, but I know that’s a foul.
So, I’m watching this, and I’m thinking, “Okay, that’s gotta be a penalty, right?” The rule, as far as I remember, is it’s a 10-yard penalty from the spot of the foul.
- First, I played it back a couple of times. Just to be sure I was seeing it right.
- Then, I did a quick search online. Looked up the rules for blocking in the back.
- Confirmed my initial thought. It was a 10-yard penalty.
What I Did After That
I noted it down, of course. Made a little mark on my notepad about the play, the players involved, and the yard line. Always good to keep track of these things, you know? It’s not every day you catch a clear foul like that on tape.
Didn’t do much else with it, really. Just thought it was an interesting thing to spot. And it’s a good reminder of why knowing the rules is important, even if you’re just watching the game for fun.
I watched some more of the game, nothing as interesting as that block though.
Kept watching more games. There’s always something new to see, some new play to analyze. That’s what I love about it.
Anyway, that was my little discovery from yesterday’s game tape review. Thought I’d share it. It’s the small things that make watching these games so interesting, right?
