Alright, guys, let’s talk about Baldur’s Gate 3, specifically if the Life Cleric subclass is any good. I’ve been messing around with it for a while now, and I’ve got some thoughts to share.
So, first off, I rolled a new character. Went through the whole character creation shebang – picking my background, race, all that jazz. I decided to go with the Life Domain for my Cleric ’cause, you know, who doesn’t like being the healer? Plus, it just seemed like a solid choice for keeping my party alive through all the crazy fights in this game.
I started messing around with different races, ’cause that’s half the fun, right? I tried out a Wood Elf first. They get extra movement speed, which is always nice. Then I thought, “Why not a Githyanki?” They get some cool spells like Misty Step and Jump for free. Plus, both of these races can use shortswords and longswords, which is a nice little bonus.
Leveling up, I focused on those Life Domain features. Let me tell you, they really do make a difference. I felt like I could handle some pretty tough battles, and the healing spells were a lifesaver. Seriously, my party members were going down left and right, but I managed to keep ’em all patched up.
I experimented with the spells quite a bit. You get some really cool high-level stuff later on, like Holy Aura and Summon Celestial. Those felt pretty powerful, especially when things got really hairy. One thing I did notice, though, is that you’re not gonna be doing much damage in melee. But hey, you’ve got Spiritual Weapon for a bonus action attack, so that helps a bit.
I also learned that, to access the Life Domain, you need to select the Cleric Class and then pick it at Level 1. You will be prompted to pick at level 1, so make sure you have selected it from the get-go.

- Race: Wood Elf, Githyanki
- Skills: Arcana, Nature
- Subclass: Life Domain
Overall, I gotta say, the Life Cleric is a pretty strong choice. You’re not gonna be the biggest damage dealer, but you’ll definitely be the one keeping everyone alive. If you like playing support and making sure your party survives those brutal encounters, then yeah, I’d say the Life Cleric is definitely worth it. It’s a really solid class with a ton of sustain, and it’s been a blast to play.
