Okay, let’s talk about this “Aid the Underduke” quest in BG3.

So, I started this quest, and man, it was a bit of a maze at first. I knew I had to meet up with this Nine Fingers character. The thing is, Minsc, another character I wanted to recruit, was somehow messing things up with Nine Fingers, even without Jaheira in my party. Turns out, you don’t actually need Jaheira for this part, which was a relief.
I went around, did some exploring, and found this poor little guy, “Us”, stuck in a skull. I’m no doctor, but the game gave me a chance to free it. There was this Investigation check first, which I luckily passed. Then came a Medicine check, which, thankfully, I also nailed, and boom, “Us” was free! This little brain buddy then joined me for a while as a temporary ally during that whole tutorial on the Mind Flayer ship. It was pretty cool having an extra hand, or should I say, an extra brain?
- Find Nine Fingers: This was the first step. I had to navigate through the city and find her hideout.
- Deal with the Minsc issue: Apparently, Minsc is a problem for Nine Fingers, regardless of whether you have Jaheira or not.
- Free “Us”: I found this little creature trapped, and after passing a couple of checks, I managed to free it.
I heard some rumors about stealing something, but honestly, the reward didn’t seem worth the trouble. I decided to play it safe and avoid any unnecessary risks. My goal was to help the Underduke, not get caught up in some petty theft. Also, passing through this Sluice Gate thing put me right back on track to run into Minsc and the fake Jaheira again. Felt like I was going in circles for a bit there, but it was part of the adventure.
Navigating the Vault
Eventually, I made my way to this place called the Vault. I won’t spoil what happens at the end, but let me tell you, it was worth the journey.
This whole “Aid the Underduke” quest was quite an experience. Lots of twists and turns, some tough decisions, and a few unexpected allies along the way. If you’re playing BG3, I definitely recommend giving it a shot. Just be prepared for a bit of a wild ride!
