This Steven Kwan, I tell ya, he’s somethin’ else. Heard folks talkin’ ’bout Steven Kwan fantasy, and I thought, “What in the Sam Hill is that?” Turns out, it ain’t about no unicorns or nothin’ like that. It’s ’bout books, stories, you know? Like them old tales we used to tell ’round the fire, ‘cept these are all newfangled and written down.
So, this Steven Kwan, he’s one of them writer fellas. He writes these stories, long ones, ’bout all sorts of made-up stuff. I reckon it’s like dreamin’ with your eyes open, readin’ these things. Some folks say it’s the best thing since sliced bread. I remember when sliced bread came to the store, it was quite a hoot!
Now, I ain’t much for readin’ myself. My eyes ain’t what they used to be, and them tiny letters just swim around on the page. But I hear these Steven Kwan fantasy books, they got somethin’ for everyone. Big folks, little folks, anyone who likes a good yarn, I reckon.

They say there’s a whole bunch of these fantasy books out there. This fella, Brandon Sanderson, he’s got a whole mess of ’em. They call it a “cosmere” or somethin’. Sounds like a fancy word for a whole lot of stories all tied together. Like a quilt, I guess, with different patches makin’ up the whole thing. That Brandon sure made a name for himself!
And then there’s that Harry Potter. Everyone and their dog’s heard of him. A boy wizard, goin’ to a magic school. Sounds a bit like my nephew, Timmy, always gettin’ into mischief. Except Timmy don’t have no magic wand, far as I know. I know he is a good boy deep down, though.
And what’s that other one? Lord of the Rings? Sounds important. Lots of folks talkin’ ’bout that one, too. Must be somethin’ special. I reckon it’s got rings and lords and all sorts of carryin’ on. People sure do love their stories, that’s for certain.
Some folks, they read these fantasy books to get away from it all. Life gets hard sometimes, you know? Workin’ all day, worryin’ ’bout this and that. These books, they take you to another place, another world. Where things are different. Maybe better, maybe worse, but different. I understand wanting to get away from things for a while.
I remember when I was a little girl, we didn’t have many books. But we had stories. My grandma, she could tell a story that would make your hair stand on end. Scary ones, funny ones, sad ones. All kinds. These Steven Kwan fantasy books, they remind me of that. Stories to make you think, make you feel, make you forget about your troubles for a little while.
They say readin’ is good for you. Keeps your mind sharp. Like a knife, you gotta keep it honed, or it gets dull. I reckon that’s true. Even if I don’t read much myself, I can see the good it does for folks. It was nice to see everyone come together for storytime when I was a kid. It was always a good time!
