Okay, so I’ve been messing around with some design ideas lately, and I got this kinda crazy idea to try and blend Harley Davidson imagery with tattoo art. I’m no professional artist, but I figured, why not give it a shot? It’s all for fun anyway.

First, I gathered some references. I spent a good chunk of time just scrolling through pictures of Harley bikes, logos, and different tattoo styles. I wanted to get a feel for the classic Harley vibe – you know, the wings, the engines, the skulls, that sort of thing. I also looked at a bunch of different tattoo styles, from traditional American to some more intricate blackwork stuff.
Digging into the Designs
Next, I started sketching. I grabbed my old, beat-up sketchbook and a pencil and just started doodling. I wasn’t aiming for perfection, just trying to get some ideas down on paper. I played around with different combinations of Harley elements – the bar and shield logo, eagle wings, engine parts, flames, you name it.
- I tried a few versions of the classic winged logo, making it look more like it was part of a tattoo design.
- I sketched some engine parts, trying to simplify them but still keep that recognizable Harley look.
- I even messed around with incorporating skulls and roses, because hey, why not?
After filling up a few pages with rough sketches, I picked a couple of designs that I thought had potential. Then I started refining them. I erased a lot, redrew lines, and tried to add a bit more detail. I wanted the designs to look kinda bold and tough, like a real tattoo.
The Final Touches
Finally, I used my phone to take photos for my sketch. I’m pretty stoked with how they turned out. They’re not perfect, by any means, but they definitely capture that Harley-meets-tattoo vibe I was going for. I used some phone Apps to make some color and some light for that. It looks great!
It was a fun little project, and it definitely got my creative juices flowing. Maybe I’ll even try to turn one of these designs into a real tattoo someday. Who knows?
