Okay, so I wanted to mess around with some old football rankings, specifically from 2011. It’s always fun to look back and see how things have changed, right?

First, I dug around for some reliable sources. I mean, there’s tons of stuff out there, but you gotta make sure it’s legit. I mainly stuck to the well-known sports sites I usally read.
Then I started pulling the data. Most of the sites had their rankings in pretty simple tables, which was a huge help. It saved a ton of time, not having to, like, decode some crazy complex format.
- Looked at the top 25 teams. Classic stuff.
- Checked out the conference rankings too. Wanted to see which conferences were dominating back then.
- Jotted down some notes on surprising teams, you know, the ones that were way higher or lower than I expected.
After that, I started organizing my info. Just a basic spreadsheet, nothing fancy. Team name, rank, conference, and any notes I had.
I spent a good chunk of time just going through it, you know, reminiscing. It’s crazy how much can change in a decade or so. Some teams that were powerhouses back then have totally faded, and others have come out of nowhere.
I might do some more with this data later, compare it to more recent rankings, maybe make some charts or something. Could be a cool way to visualize the changes. I was curious for the change in the rank.

What I got
Well, I got a pretty clear picture of the college football landscape in 2011! It was a fun little trip down memory lane, and it gave me some ideas for future projects. Definitely worth the time!
