Okay, so, day 20 of this 108-day thing I’m doing. It’s all about, like, pushing myself to do something creative every day. It doesn’t have to be huge, just… something.

Yesterday was a bit of a wash. I ended up just staring at a blank page for, I don’t know, an hour? Total brain freeze. So today, I started by just getting out of my usual workspace. I figured a change of scenery might help shake things loose.
Getting the Juices Flowing
I went to that little coffee shop down the street, the one with the mismatched chairs and the weird art on the walls. I ordered a giant latte (extra shot, because, you know, desperate times) and just sat there, people-watching.
I didn’t even open my laptop at first. I just watched people. There was this older guy reading a newspaper, totally engrossed, and a couple arguing about… I don’t know, something about a dog? And a student furiously typing away on their laptop, probably finishing a paper at the last minute. We’ve all been there, right?
The Idea (Finally!)
After about half an hour of this, and halfway through my latte, I finally felt like something clicked. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, but I at least felt like I could do something. I opened my laptop and just started typing. Stream of consciousness, totally unfiltered. Whatever popped into my head, I wrote it down.
- Random thoughts
- Bits of overheard conversations
- Descriptions of people
- Just… words.
It wasn’t pretty. It was a mess. But it was something. And that’s the whole point, right? To just get something down, to break through that block.

After about an hour of that, I started to see some patterns. Some little threads that I could maybe pull on. I still don’t have a finished product, not by a long shot. But I have a starting point. I have a direction. And that’s way better than I had yesterday.
So, I call it all done. It’s a step. It’s progress. And I’ll take it. 88 more days to go…
