Okay, so, last night was… interesting. Let me tell you about the time I got pulled over at night.

The Setup
It was late, like, really late. I was driving home from my friend’s place after a game night. I’d had a couple of sodas, nothing stronger, I swear! The roads were pretty empty, which is usually nice, but it also makes you feel a little… exposed, you know?
The Lights
So, I’m cruising along, listening to some tunes, when suddenly, BAM! Red and blue flashing lights in my rearview mirror. My stomach immediately dropped to my feet. I’m thinking, “Oh crap, what did I do?”
The Stop
- I pulled over to the side of the road, trying to be as smooth and non-threatening as possible. Hands on the wheel, just like they teach you.
- The officer walked up to my window, flashlight shining right in my face. It’s always a bit blinding, even when you expect it.
The Conversation
He asked for my license and registration. Standard stuff. I fumbled around in my glove compartment, heart pounding like a drum solo. I was super nervous, even though I knew I hadn’t done anything really wrong. He takes the information and says that my tail light is out.
Of course, I didn’t know my tail light is out, I said “I didn’t know it, officer”.
The Waiting
Then came the waiting. He went back to his car, presumably to run my plates or whatever they do. Those few minutes felt like an eternity. Every creak of my car, every distant siren, made me jump.

The Resolution
Finally, he came back. Good news! He was just giving me a warning about the taillight. Huge sigh of relief. He was actually pretty nice about it, told me to get it fixed soon. I thanked him, probably a little too enthusiastically, and drove off, feeling like I’d just dodged a major bullet.
The Aftermath
The rest of the drive home, I was super paranoid. I checked my mirrors every five seconds, made sure I was going exactly the speed limit. Every light is working * definitely made me appreciate how quickly a normal night can turn into a stressful situation.
And I ordered a new taillight bulb online the second I got home!
