Okay, so I saw this thing about the “exacta payout Preakness” and I was like, “What’s that?” I’m not a huge horse racing guy, but I do like to throw a few bucks down now and then, just for fun. And “exacta”? Sounds fancy.
So, first thing I did was, you know, hit up the internet. I needed to figure out what an “exacta” even is. Turns out, it’s not that complicated. You basically have to pick the first two horses, in the correct order. Get that right, and you win.
Next, I had to find the Preakness Stakes results. Easy enough. Found a couple of sites listing the winners. I wrote down the names of the top two horses, making really sure I had the order right. Number one first, then number two. Mess that up and you’re done.
My Process for checking
- Figure out the horses: I wrote them down to get the first two horses correctly.
- Find a payout chart: I figured there had to be a place online that would show the payouts. I searched for something like “Preakness exacta payout chart” and bam! Found what I was looking for.
- Match the horses: This was the key part. I looked at the chart, found the winning horse, and then looked at the second-place horse next to it. That showed me the payout for a $2 exacta bet.
It was pretty cool to see how much those bets paid out. Some of them were huge! Of course, the odds of picking the right horses are, you know, not always great. But it’s still fun to dream, right?
I didn’t actually bet on the Preakness this year. I am just playing around and I’d probably have lost, honestly. But I learned something new! And now I know what an exacta is, and how to find the payout. Maybe next year I’ll give it a shot.
