Okay, so today I decided to try my luck with the “Pick 6” lottery. I’ve played before, but never really documented the whole process, so I figured, why not? Let’s see how this goes.

Getting Started
First things first, I grabbed a playslip from the local convenience store. I usually just let the machine pick random numbers, Quick Pick, you know? But today, I felt like choosing my own. So, I spent a good five minutes staring at the numbers, trying to figure out some kind of “lucky” combination. I even considered using my kids’ birthdays, but ended up with a mix of random dates and, well, just whatever felt right.
Choosing My Numbers
The Pick 6 requires you to, well, pick six numbers from a set range. I had to make sure I didn’t pick any duplicates or anything outside that range, because that would just void the whole thing. After some serious deliberation (it felt serious at the time, anyway!), I marked my chosen six numbers on the playslip. I double-checked, triple-checked, and even asked the store clerk to take a look, just to be absolutely sure.
- Number 1: My cat’s age (in human years… sort of)
- Number 2: The day of the month my best friend got married
- Number 3: A random number that popped into my head
- Number 4: My lucky number (which isn’t very lucky, to be honest)
- Number 5: The last two digits of my old phone number
- Number 6: The number of cups of coffee I had this morning (it was a lot)
Making it Official
With my numbers confidently selected, I handed the playslip over to the clerk. They scanned it into the machine, and I paid my couple of bucks. Then, the machine spat out my ticket – my official entry into the Pick 6 drawing. I folded it up carefully and tucked it into my wallet, trying not to get my hopes up too much.
The Waiting Game
Now comes the hard part: waiting. The drawing isn’t until later tonight, so I just have to go about my day and try not to think about the (very, very slim) possibility of winning. I set a reminder on my phone to check the results later. It’s kind of exciting, even though I know the odds are stacked against me.
Checking the Results (and Reality)
Okay, so the drawing happened. My phone alarm went off, and I nervously pulled up the lottery website. I compared the winning numbers to the numbers on my ticket, one by one. Let’s just say… I didn’t win the jackpot. Not even close. I think I matched, like, one number. Maybe two? It’s a bit of a blur of disappointment, to be honest.

But hey that’s how game goes. At least I have record to tell how I get to the result.
