Okay, so yesterday I tried to take some pictures of the plum tree in my backyard. The blossoms are just starting to pop, and I wanted to capture that early spring vibe, you know?

First, I grabbed my old camera. I don’t have one new fancy, just a simple point-and-shoot, but it gets the job done. I made sure the battery was charged – that’s a mistake I’ve made way too many times before!
Getting the Shot
I went outside around mid-morning, figuring the light would be pretty good then. It wasn’t too sunny, which was good because harsh sunlight can make everything look washed out.
I spent a good hour just circling that tree! I tried all sorts of angles. I got down low, shooting upwards to get the blue sky behind the branches. Then I climbed up on a little step stool (carefully!) to try and get a shot looking down on the blossoms.
- I focused on getting some close-ups of individual flowers.
- I also tried to capture entire branches, showing the overall shape of the tree.
- The wind was a bit of a pain, kept blowing the branches around, so I had to be patient and wait for it to die down.
I took a ton of pictures, experimenting. I find a good picture very hard! I also play around the different settings.
Afterward, I looked at the photos on my computer. Honestly, most of them were, meh, only okay. But there were a few that I really liked! The ones where the light was hitting the blossoms just right, making them look almost glowy.

It was a fun little project, and it got me outside enjoying the fresh air. Plus, I’ve got some pretty pictures to remind me of this time of year, even after the blossoms are gone.
