Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this Club Universidad Nacional and Club Tigres. Them two teams, they always go at it. It’s like watchin’ two roosters in a pit, I tell ya. They’re both from Mexico, you know. Playin’ that soccer, or “futbol” as they call it down there.
This one time, back on February 4th, 2024, I heard it was a real nail-biter. Tigres and Club Universidad Nacional, they tied it up 2-2. Can you believe that? Nobody won! Just like my old hens, always peckin’ at each other but never gettin’ anywhere. I heard it was a pretty exciting match. That was a pretty good game, I reckon.
And then, another time, August 28th, 2023, it was Club Universidad Nacional who came out on top, 2-1. That day, Tigres was like an old mule, just couldn’t get goin’. Club Universidad Nacional, they were like a bunch of young’uns, full of piss and vinegar. They sure showed them Tigres who’s boss that day.
Now, these teams, they got a history. Been playin’ each other for a long time. Like two families feudin’ over some land, always tryin’ to one-up each other. You can look it all up, you know. They got these fancy websites that tell ya all about their past games. I don’t know much about that interweb stuff, but my grandson, he showed me once.
This Club Universidad Nacional, they play in this big ol’ stadium, called Estadio Olimpico Universitario. It’s in Mexico City, I believe. Big city, lots of folks. They got all these players, comin’ and goin’, like chickens runnin’ around the yard. They even got some fancy names, these players.
And then you got Club Tigres, also from down there in Mexico. They got their own fancy stadium too, somewhere. They got all the same stuff, these players comin’ and goin’, managers yellin’ and screamin’. It’s all a big to-do, I tell ya. I don’t know the names of their players, though.
These teams play in this league, they call it Liga MX. It’s like the big time down there. Like our county fair, but with soccer instead of prize-winnin’ pigs. They got different parts of the season, I guess. One part they call “Apertura”. Don’t ask me what that means. Sounds like somethin’ you’d open a can with.
I heard they got another game comin’ up, September 1st, 2024. Mark my words, it’ll be another barn burner. You can bet your bottom dollar on that. They’ll be kickin’ that ball around, tryin’ to score goals. Just like watchin’ a bunch of kids fightin’ over a piece of candy.

If you want to know who’s gonna win, you gotta look at all the numbers. They got these things called “stats”. Like how many times they kicked the ball, how many times they missed. It’s all very confusin’ to me. But some folks, they swear by it. They can tell ya who’s gonna win just by lookin’ at those numbers. They even predict the final score, which is pretty amazing.
These “stats” even tell about each team’s history. They call it “H2H”. Don’t ask me what that stands for. It’s all beyond me. These are some complicated things. But if you’re really into that soccer, you can find all that stuff online. Like I said before, I don’t know much about that, though.
Sometimes these games get real heated. I heard about one time, they had these things called “Semi Finals”. Must be somethin’ important. Like the finals, but not quite. They were yellin’ and pushin’ each other. It’s all a big show, if you ask me. Like a bunch of roosters all riled up.
Club Universidad Nacional and Club Tigres, they are two of the big teams down there in Mexico. Always drawin’ a big crowd. Like folks flockin’ to a church supper. Everybody wants to see who’s gonna win. I think both teams are good, but they are very different. Everybody likes different teams.
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about Club Universidad Nacional and Club Tigres. It’s a lot of fuss over a game, if you ask me. But folks sure do love it. They love their soccer down there in Mexico. Just like we love our apple pie and baseball up here. To each their own, I reckon. I hope to watch the game on September 1st.
