Alright, so the other day I was digging through some old boxes, and I found my 2008 NBA Finals program. Man, that brought back memories! I got totally sucked into reliving that Celtics championship run, so I figured, why not try to put together the whole roster from memory, and then double-check it?

First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen – gotta go old school sometimes, you know? I started with the obvious guys, the ones that were just burned into my brain:
- Paul Pierce – The Truth, obviously. Captain and Finals MVP.
- Kevin Garnett – The Big Ticket! The intensity he brought was insane.
- Ray Allen – Jesus Shuttlesworth! Sweetest stroke in the game.
Those three were easy. Then I racked my brain for the rest of the starting five. I remembered:
- Rajon Rondo – He was still young then, but you could see the potential.
- Kendrick Perkins – The big man in the middle, setting the mean .
Bench Boosters
Okay, starting five down, now for the bench. This is where it got a little tougher. I closed my eyes, trying to picture those games, those celebrations. I jotted down:
- James Posey – He was a key veteran presence.
- Eddie House – Instant offense off the bench!
- P.J. Brown– the enery guy.
- Leon Powe – the young power.
I was feeling pretty good at this point. I knew I was missing some guys, the deep bench players.I could picture a few more faces, but the names were hazy. That’s when I pulled out my phone and did a quick search, just to fill in the gaps and see how I did.
Turns out I missed a few!

- Sam Cassell – How could I forget Sam I Am?
- Tony Allen – The Grindfather.
- Brian Scalabrine – The White Mamba! The legend.
- Gabe Pruitt
- Scot Pollard
So yeah, I didn’t get them all from memory, I had my miss. But it was awesome to go back and relive that championship season. That team was special, and putting together that roster, even with a little help from the internet, brought all those good feelings back.
