Alright, so I decided to mess around with this whole “2 CV car” thing. You know, the classic Citroën 2CV? I’ve always thought they were kinda cool, in a quirky, vintage way. So, I figured, why not try to build something inspired by it, virtually, of course!

Getting Started
First things first, I needed a plan. I wasn’t going to build a real 2CV, obviously. I’m not a mechanic! My plan was to make a 3D model.I started by gathering some references. I spent a good chunk of time just browsing images online, looking at the 2CV from every angle. I wanted to get a real feel for its shape, its curves, and all those little details that make it unique.
The Modeling Process
I used some basic 3D modeling software, nothing too fancy, just using what I’m comfortable with.
- Building the base: I roughed out the basic body shape. It was blocky and ugly at first, a far cry from the smooth lines of the real thing.
- Refining the curves:Then came the fun part – slowly refining those blocky shapes, adding curves, and trying to capture that iconic 2CV silhouette. This took a lot of tweaking.
- The details:After that, I moved on to the smaller details. The headlights, the grille, the door handles, the wheels – all those little things that add character. I found myself getting really into the tiny details.
Stumbling Blocks and Fixes
It wasn’t all smooth sailing.I hit a few snags. Getting the proportions right was tricky. Sometimes the body looked too long, sometimes too short, sometimes just…weird. It was a lot of trial and error, pushing and pulling vertices around until it started to look * there was the issue with the roof. The 2CV has that distinctive canvas roof, and I couldn’t use the soft to render the *,I used the color to express the * took me a while to figure that out.
The Final Result (Sort Of)
Finally, after a lot of work, I had something that I was actually pretty happy with. It’s not perfect, of course. There are definitely things I could improve. But it looks like a 2CV, and that’s what I was going *’s always a fun personal practice project.
This whole process taught me a lot about the 2CV’s design. It’s a lot more complex than it looks! And it gave me a new appreciation for the engineers who designed this quirky little car back in the day.
