Okay, so “Johnny Hollywood.” Sounds fancy, right? I saw this effect on some video and thought, “I gotta try that.” So, here’s how I messed around and finally got it working.
Getting Started
First, I needed some footage. I just grabbed my phone and shot a quick video of my cat sleeping on the sofa. Nothing special, just something to work with. It’s important to start with the material, and keep going!
The Messy Middle Part
Then, I opened up my video editing software. I usually use whatever’s free, you know, nothing too complicated. I imported the cat video, and this is where the fun began.
- Color Grading is Key: I went straight to the color correction tools. The “Johnny Hollywood” look is all about that teal and orange vibe. So, I started messing with the sliders.
- Pushing the Blues: I cranked up the blues in the shadows and midtones. I was just eyeballing it, sliding things left and right until it looked kinda cinematic. There’s no right or wrong here, just what feels right.
- Boosting the Oranges: Next, I went for the oranges and yellows. I boosted those in the highlights to give it that warm, sunny feel. It started to look like a movie scene, or at least, I thought so!
Play around!
- Contrast is Your Friend: I also played with the contrast a bit. Upped it a little to make the colors pop more. Don’t overdo it, though, or it’ll look weird.
Experiment！
Honestly, I spent a good hour just tweaking the colors. Sliding things back and forth, trying different settings. It’s all about experimenting, and finding some different style to make it unique.
The Final Touches
Once I was happy with the colors, I added a tiny bit of sharpening. Just a touch, to make the details stand out a little more. And that was pretty much it!
Rendering and Done!
Finally, I exported the video. I didn’t go crazy with the settings, just a standard MP4 format. And there you have it – my attempt at the “Johnny Hollywood” look.
It’s not perfect, but I learned a lot. It’s all about playing around with the colors and finding what looks good to you. Give it a shot, and don’t be afraid to mess up. That’s how you learn, and maybe that’s the most important!
