Okay, so today I decided to dive into creating something I’ve been thinking about for a while – a “Jackson Koivun Memorial.” Now, I’m not the craftiest person, but I wanted to make something to remember a really special person. So, here’s how it went down.

Gathering My Supplies
First things first, I needed to figure out what I wanted this memorial to be. Did I want a photo collage? A painted rock? I rummaged through my craft supplies – which, let’s be honest, is mostly just a box of random stuff.
- I found some old photo albums.(score!)
- A shoebox that could maybe work as a base.
- Some construction paper, glitter glue(dont ask),and markers.
- A few candles I had lying around.
It wasn’t much, but it was a start.
The Photo Hunt
The most important part was finding the right photos. I spent a good hour flipping through albums, and honestly, it was pretty emotional. Seeing all those old pictures brought back a ton of memories. I picked out a few that really captured Jackson’s spirit – you know, the ones where he’s laughing or making that goofy face he always did.
Putting It Together (The Messy Part)
Okay, so I decided to go with a sort of collage/memory box thing. I started by covering the shoebox with construction paper. Let me tell you, wrapping a box neatly is WAY harder than it looks. I ended up with a lot of crinkles and tape showing, but hey, it’s the thought that counts, right?
Then came the photos. I arranged them on the lid of the box, trying to get a good layout. It took a few tries, and some of the photos were different sizes, so it wasn’t perfect. I used some of that glitter glue (because why not?) to stick them down. It got a little messy, and I definitely got some glitter on my hands, but it was starting to look…well, it was starting to look like something.

I added some scribbled notes and used those markers and wrote down some of my favorite memories of Jackson around the edges of the photos.
Finishing Touches
I set the box on my table and placed the candles around it. Lighting them felt…right. It was simple, maybe a little rough around the edges, but it was mine. And it felt like a good way to remember someone who meant a lot to me.
It’s not fancy, and it’s definitely not something you’d see in a store, but it’s real. And that’s what matters. It was a good way to spend the afternoon, remembering Jackson and working through some feelings.
