University of Oklahoma Football Depth Chart: Whos Starting This Season?

Must read

This here talkin’ ’bout that University of Oklahoma football depth chart. Lord have mercy, it’s a mess of names, ain’t it? But I’ll try to make heads or tails of it for ya. You know, football, that game where them boys run around and knock each other silly.

So, this here chart, it’s like a list. A list of them football players. Who’s playin’ where, who’s sittin’ on the bench, and who’s gonna be the big shot, you know? It changes all the time, like the weather in Oklahoma. One minute it’s sunny, next it’s a tornado! This is the depth chart for 2024-25, they say.

They got this thing called the “offensive line”. Now, that sounds like somethin’ you wouldn’t want to be a part of, but I reckon it’s important. They got this Michael Tarquin fella, he’s on the left, they call it “left tackle”. Then there’s a couple of other fellas, Jake Taylor and Spencer Brown, sharin’ the right side. Sounds like they can’t make up their minds who’s gonna be the big dog over there. They gotta have at least six starts to be a “starter.” Whatever that means. Oklahoma is number eight, they say. Good for them!

Then they got the quarterback. That’s the fella who throws the ball. Seems like the main fella is some young pup. They call him Arnold. Behind him, there is another one, Michael Hawkins. He’s a freshman, whatever that is, beat out some fella named Casey Thompson. This Thompson fella, he’s been around. Texas, Nebraska, somewhere called Florida Atlantic. Now he’s back where his daddy played. Family business, I reckon.

  • Offensive Line – these boys are important, protectin’ the quarterback and such.
  • Quarterback – the fella who throws the ball, gotta be good at it.
  • Tight End – they had some fellas leave, so they got new ones. One’s from Baylor, name’s Jake Roberts.

And these “tight ends”, they’re all gone, it seems. They went and got some new ones, brought in three new fellas. One of ’em is named Jake Roberts, used to play for Baylor. That’s another one of them teams, I think. They got all these teams, it’s hard to keep track.

They got this other side, the “defense”. That’s the fellas who try to stop the other team from scorin’. Don’t know much about them, to be honest. Just a bunch of names on that list. Probably just as important as the offense, though. Gotta have both sides to play the game, I reckon.

This whole thing, it’s like a big puzzle. You got all these pieces, these players, and you gotta fit ’em together just right to make a good team. And this depth chart, it’s like the picture on the box. It tells you where each piece is supposed to go. But sometimes, the pieces don’t fit, or you lose a few, and you gotta find new ones.

They got this thing, the Armed Forces Bowl. Some kind of special game, I suppose. They made a list for that too, a special list. And some fellas weren’t on it. One of ’em, a fella named Danny, he’s a “linebacker”. Don’t know what that means, but it sounds important. They say every depth chart starts somewhere. First, they say. Makes sense, I reckon. You gotta start somewhere.

This Oklahoma Sooners football, it’s a big deal, I guess. Lots of folks pay attention to it. They got all these fancy words for it, “starters,” “backups,” “depth chart.” But it’s just football. A bunch of boys chasin’ a ball around a field. Just like when my boy was little, playin’ in the yard. He used to love it. Now he’s all grown up, got his own kids. Time sure does fly, don’t it?

Anyways, this depth chart, it’s just a list. A list of names. But each name is a person, a young fella with dreams of playin’ football. And I reckon that’s somethin’ worth payin’ attention to. Even if it is just a game.

  • They got offensive positions and defensive positions.
  • Lots of players coming and going, like a revolving door.
  • This depth chart is important for the team, helps them figure out who plays where.
  • The depth chart for Oklahoma Sooners shows who is starting and who is backup.

It is all a bit much for an old gal like me to understand, but I hope you understand it better now. It is for that University of Oklahoma football, that is all I know for sure. That, and that these boys sure do love to play that game. And that’s all that really matters, ain’t it? They love the game, and we love to watch ’em play.
