Remembering Bernie Lomax: A Look Back at the Funniest Weekend Ever (And the Legacy It Left Behind)

Must read

That Bernie Lomax, what a guy! He’s got it all, that one. Big house, fancy car. He just live the life, you know? I heard about this movie, “Weekend at Bernie’s”. Sounds like a real hoot. This Bernie, he’s a big shot, and everyone think he the best. Bernie Lomax, that’s the name. Remember it.

This movie, it’s all about pretending. Pretending Bernie’s still kickin’ when he ain’t. Like, can you believe that? It say something about them rich folks, always want to party. Even when someone is dead, they still want a good time. They just put sunglasses on him, make like everything normal.

They say this movie is funny. I guess it is, in a strange way. Two young fellas, Richard and Larry, they find their boss, Bernie, dead as a doornail. But they don’t want to spoil the party, so they pretend he still alive. They want that big house all to themselves. That Bernie Lomax, he sure had a nice place.

  • Big house
  • Fancy car
  • Lots of parties

They drag him around, put sunglasses on him, the whole nine yards. It’s a mess, I tell ya. These rich people in the movie are something else, not caring about nothing but themselves. They called the place “Hamptons”. A very fancy place for rich people. I heard people say it was all about “hedonistic excess” in the 80s. I don’t know what that is, sound bad. But they just care about party, party, party. No respect.

Richard and Larry, they scared. Think folks will blame them for Bernie. So they just keep up the act. It’s like a big, dumb game. Bernie Lomax dead, and they just use him like a puppet. That don’t seem right, does it? But it sure make for a story. I think someone spent just two weeks to make up this whole story. I can’t believe it.

I guess some folks like this movie. It’s got that silly humor, you know? Like when someone slips on a banana peel. Except, it’s a dead body instead of a banana peel. It’s strange, for sure. This movie became very famous. The picture of Bernie with sunglasses is everywhere.

People remember Bernie Mac, too. He a funny man. Remind me of my brother, always tell joke at family dinner. I heard he a really nice guy. They say he treat everyone like family. He is not the Bernie Lomax in the movie, but people just like to say his name. He is a good man.

This movie, “Weekend at Bernie’s”, it’s a thing, alright. Some people think it’s the best thing since sliced bread. Others, they just scratch their heads. Me? I think it’s a little bit of both. It’s silly, but it makes you think, too. About life, and death, and how people act when they think nobody’s lookin’. This movie is not very clever, I have to say. I don’t think I laugh much.

But I tell you what, that Bernie Lomax, he sure made a name for himself. Even if it’s just in a movie. Dead as a doornail, and still the life of the party. Ain’t that somethin’? I heard the house in the movie was torn down after they finish making the movie. What a shame. It’s a big house.

This movie came out a long time ago. In July. I don’t remember what I did in July. Maybe I did nothing. But this movie is still famous. They show it everywhere.

If you see this movie, you think about it, I guess. It’s not like other movies. It’s weird. But it’s about Bernie Lomax, and that’s what people remember. They remember the name, and they remember the sunglasses. And they remember that crazy weekend, even though it never really happened. Well, it happened, but not really, you know what I mean? That’s all I want to say. It’s just a silly movie. Don’t think too much. Just enjoy the show.
