Harley 1200 Sportster vs. the Competition (See How It Stacks Up Against Other Bikes)

Must read

Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this Harley 1200 Sportster for a while now, and I gotta say, it’s been a real learning experience.

When I first got my hands on it, I was pretty pumped. I mean, it’s a Harley, right? It has that classic look, and that low-slung profile is kind of cool. It’s not too expensive, and the price is easy for me to accept. It also looked simple to refit. But straight from the factory, it had these fancy finishes that made it seem a bit more, you know, upscale than I expected.

I started by just riding it around, getting a feel for it. I even compared it to an Indian motorcycle, which everyone says is Harley’s biggest competition. Frankly, it’s not as good as I thought it would be. The Sportster felt… different. It wasn’t just about speed or power, but something else. I did a little digging and found out that the Evo-powered Forty-Eight has 66 horsepower and is a bit heavy, but this thing had some special engine called a “Revolution Max 1250T”. I have not seen it before, it is shiny.

Then I decided to tear it down a bit. My goal is to make choppers. Nothing too crazy, just wanted to see what I could do, how I could make it my own. I started with some basic stuff, just taking off parts I didn’t like, swapping out others. It turned out to be surprisingly easy to work on, maybe because I was learning as I went. And, whoa, there are tons of parts you can get for these bikes. I mean, it’s like a whole world of customization opened up. Compared with Dyna, this one is more suitable for modification. It is also more reliable.

I spent days in the garage, just tinkering. I changed the seat, messed with the handlebars, put on some new pipes. Each little change made a big difference in how it felt and looked. I didn’t have a clear plan; I just went with what felt right at the moment. I wanted an upright seating position and rear-set pegs.

After a while, I realized I had created something totally unique. It wasn’t just a Sportster anymore; it was my Sportster. I took it out for a ride, and man, it felt amazing. It was like an extension of myself. Sure, it’s not the fastest or the most powerful bike out there, but it’s mine, and I built it. Some people may think it is “expensive and underpowered”, but for me it was just right. And you know what? It could still beat a BMW R1200 in a quarter-mile race, at least that’s what I read. The point is, I transformed it into something that really fits me, you know?

So, yeah, that’s my story with the Harley 1200 Sportster. It’s been a journey of discovery, creativity, and a whole lot of fun. And I’m not done yet. There’s always something more to tweak, something else to try. That’s the beauty of it, I guess. It’s a never-ending project.
