Okay, so, let me tell you about my trip to Indianapolis. I’d heard a lot about it being the “racing capital of the world”, I guess it makes sense. You’ve got the Indy 500, the Brickyard 400, and some Grand Prix thing, all in one place. I am not a racing fan, so I did not go to the racing tracks. But I’m not a huge racing fan, so my trip was more about just exploring the city.

First thing I did was figuring out where to stay. I looked up a video online and it had a bunch of recommendations. I wanted to be near the action, so I picked a place downtown. This area’s called “Mile Square”. It’s the place to be if you’re new to the city, apparently.
I ended up at this place called the Ironworks Hotel Indy. It looked pretty cool, and it was close to everything I wanted to see. I also saw a Holiday Inn Express near Lucas Oil Stadium, which is where the Colts play, I think. But Ironworks seemed a bit fancier, so I went with that. I arrived there, and I went to my room.
I spent the next few days just walking around, checking out the sights. I saw the stadium, which was massive. I mean, those football players must feel tiny out there, I thought.
Here are some highlights of my trip:
- Walked around the Mile Square area. Lots of shops and restaurants. I got some pretty good food, had a few good meals. I ate way too much, honestly.
- Checked out the Indiana Pacers’ stadium. Didn’t see a game, but it was still cool to see where they play. Basketball is not my thing, but I know it is big in the city.
- Visited some museums. They have some decent art and history stuff, if you’re into that. Spent a couple of hours in a war memorial museum, it was alright.
Overall, it was a good trip. Indianapolis is a pretty cool city, even if you’re not a racing fanatic. There’s a lot to do, the people are nice, and the food is decent. It’s not the most exciting place I’ve ever been, but I had a good time. If you find yourself there, you will be good. I would definitely recommend it for a quick getaway. Maybe next time I’ll try to catch a Colts game.
