Well, let me tell you somethin’ about these newfangled Guardians City Connect things. I heard folks talkin’ ’bout it down at the market, sayin’ it’s all the rage. These young’uns and their fancy clothes, always somethin’ new, ain’t it? They say it’s for the baseball, that Cleveland team. They called the Guardians now, used to be somethin’ else, but you know, times change.
So, these City Connect, they’re like special outfits, they say. Made by that Nike company, the one that makes all them shoes everyone’s wearin’. These outfits, they ain’t like the regular ones, no sir. They got different colors and writin’ and all sorts of things on ’em. They’re supposed to be special, you see. Like a Sunday dress, but for playin’ ball. These new Guardians City Connect outfits are somethin’ else, I tell ya. Different than what they usually wear.
They say these new clothes, they got somethin’ to do with them statues. The Guardians of Traffic they call ’em. Big ol’ things, standin’ tall. I seen ’em once, when I went to the city with my Bessie. Right there by that bridge, the Hope somethin’ or other. They say these clothes are supposed to look like them statues. Now ain’t that somethin’? Clothes lookin’ like statues. These designers, they got all kinds of ideas.
They say the team, these Guardians, they gonna wear these new clothes on Fridays. Every Friday they play at home, they gonna put on these City Connect things. They can wear ’em other times too, if they want. I reckon the players like to change things up. It’s good to have choices, I always say.
Folks been waitin’ for these City Connect things for a long time, it seems. Ever since that Nike started makin’ all the baseball clothes. And now, here they are! Cleveland’s got ’em. And other teams too, I hear. The Tigers, the Dodgers, the Twins. Lots of ’em gettin’ these special outfits.

Now some folks, they like these new clothes. They think they’re pretty and all. Other folks, not so much. They say they don’t like change. They say it ain’t like the old days. Well, nothin’s like the old days anymore, is it? Gotta keep up with the times, I reckon. Even if it’s just some new clothes for the baseball players. Major League Baseball is changin’, they say.
They say these clothes are supposed to bring folks together. The team and the city, all connected. That’s what they say, anyway. “City Connect Uniforms“, a fancy name for a fancy idea. Maybe it’ll work, maybe it won’t. Who knows? But it’s somethin’ new, somethin’ different. And that ain’t always a bad thing, is it? These City Connect things, they’re makin’ a stir, that’s for sure.
They had a big to-do about it, showin’ off these new outfits. On a Sunday, no less. I guess Sundays are for showin’ off new clothes, even if you ain’t goin’ to church. And they’re givin’ things away, too. Six times, they say. Free stuff, just for goin’ to the game. Well, who don’t like free stuff? Maybe I’ll go to one of them games, just to see what all the fuss is about. And maybe get me somethin’ free, too!
Now, that old gray outfit they wear when they’re playin’ away from home. They say that one’s stayin’ the same. No changes there. Some things stay the same, even when everythin’ else is changin’. It’s good to have somethin’ familiar, somethin’ you can count on. Like an old pair of shoes, comfortable and worn in. That gray outfit, it’s like that, I suppose.
So there you have it. That’s what I know about these Guardians City Connect things. It’s all the talk these days. New clothes for the baseball team, lookin’ like statues, made by that shoe company. Some folks like ’em, some folks don’t. But it’s somethin’ new, somethin’ different. And maybe, just maybe, it’ll bring folks together. That’s what they say, anyway. Time will tell, I reckon. Time always tells.
I still remember when they changed the team name. That was a big deal. Now it’s these new clothes. Always somethin’. But hey, that’s life, ain’t it? Always changin’, always somethin’ new. Gotta keep up, or you’ll get left behind. Even an old lady like me knows that. Just gotta keep your eyes open and your ears to the ground, and you’ll hear all about it.
